In a significant shake-up, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed five members of his cabinet.

While no official reason was given for their removal, sources suggested it may be linked to underperformance over the past year.

However, a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Architect Samuel Jatau, confirmed the development.

“The governor has relieved the following commissioners of their duties, effective immediately,” the statement read. It further conveyed Governor Mutfwang’s best wishes to the affected officials, stating, “We appreciate their service to the state and wish them success in their future political endeavors.”

The affected commissioners and their respective ministries are Chrysanthus Dawam, commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning; Noel Nkup, commissioner of Youth and Sports, and Jamila Tukur, commissioner of Tourism and Hospitality.

Others included Obed Goselle – Science and Technology and Sule Musa, commissioner of Commerce and Industry.

Notably, both Dawam and Tukur had previously faced a three-month suspension last year for undisclosed reasons.

The governor also approved Sunday Alex from Bassa Local Government Area, Joyce Ramnap from Langtang South, Sylvanus Dongtoe from Shendam, Nicholas Baamlong from Qua’an Pam, and Cornelius Doeyok also from Qua’an Local Government Area to serve as Commissioners.

The former Commissioners were appreciated and wished the best in future endeavours.

This development has sparked discussions within political circles, with analysts speculating on potential replacements and the broader implications of the cabinet reshuffle.
