Governor of Kebbi State Nasir Idris has flagged-off the construction of 86 kilometres Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road. He described the move as the fulfilment of his campaign promises in the areas.

While flagging the construction work on Tuesday at Dabai Junction in Zuru emirate, Idris told the gathering that he was proud to flag the construction of the road because of its importance to the hundreds of communities within the Zuru emirate.

He said that, though the federal government initially awarded it, it was neglected for reasons best known to the project’s owners. Under his watch, the Kebbi State government decided to continue with the project due to its impact on people in the communities.

Idris, however, directed the Ministry of Works to strictly monitor the project to ensure compliance with specifications.

The governor noted that if completed, it will be useful to the State’s agrarian economy, particularly in the Zuru emirate, which is a major agricultural hub in the state.
