FEC Approves Over N203bn For 6 Major Projects In FCT

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved contracts worth over N203 billion for six critical infrastructure projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). These projects aim to improve road networks, erosion control, and water supply.

Minister of State for FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, disclosed this to State House correspondents on Tuesday after the council meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to her, key projects approved include the construction of access roads, the rehabilitation of major streets, and upgrading water treatment infrastructure.

Highlights of the approved contracts are: Access Road Construction and Erosion Control: An access road to the FCT Fire Service Institution and erosion control works in Kaura District were approved. The contract, awarded to Infu Ernest International Ltd, is valued at N13.18 billion with an 18-month completion timeline.

Revised Cost for Guzape District Engineering Infrastructure:

The cost for engineering works in Guzape District (Lot 1) was revised from N22.2 billion to N70.89 billion, with an additional completion period of 18 months. .
Clinton Drive to Tunga Madaki Access Road and Bridge: The project, which spans 7 kilometres and involves a full-span bridge bypassing the airport’s second railway, was awarded to CCECC for N27.6 billion and will be completed within 12 months.

Rehabilitation and Resurfacing of Major Roads: Roads to be rehabilitated include Yakubu Gowon Crescent, Thomas Sankara Road, JFK Street, Ibrahim Taiwo Street, Muhammadu Ribadu Street, and Shehu Shagari Way. Julius Berger was awarded the contract, valued at N20.4 billion, with an 8-month completion period.
Engineering Infrastructure for Outstanding Guzape Layouts (Lots 1 & 2): Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company was awarded N54.38 billion for finishing works for Guzape neighbourhoods, with an 18-month completion period.
