Private Varsities Need TETFUND Intervention – VC

Vice chancellor of Amedeus University, Amizi Ikwuano, Prof. Samuel Nzotta, has said private universities in the country also need Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) interventions.

Nzotta stated this while briefing newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia State capital on the forthcoming official inauguration and unveiling of the university located in Ikwuano local government area of the state.

He argued that scholars in such universities need interventions like their counterparts in government-owned universities to conduct holistic research activities.

The VC, who urged the federal government to direct the TETFUND to review its modalities for interventions, used the forum to explain the university’s vision and mission.

According to him, the varsity was established “To promote and provide leadership in research-driven advancement of learning with the ultimate objective of achieving academic excellence in the cognitive and psychomotor domains of the human person.

“To produce self-reliant, nationally relevant, and globally competitive graduates fit for the 21st-century digital world.”

He also appealed for partnership from all and sundry for the development, infrastructure projects and new programmes of the institution.

 

The don added that the university emphasises scholarship for excellence, unfettered access to higher education and product quality, among others.
