Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a governorship hopeful in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has stated that his aspiration to dislodge incumbent Biodun Oyebanji in next Year’s election is a divine mandate.
According to Otunba Fayose, he will win the election with or without the support of his elder brother, Ayodele Fayose, who has expressed his desire to back Oyebanji against him.
This is coming just as he called on his party’s leadership, PDP, to team up with him to rescue Ekiti State from lousy governance being perpetrated by the led government.
Otunba Fayose stated this in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday while reacting to current developments affecting Ekiti State.
In a statement also made available to newsmen on Monday, Otunba Fayose carpeted former governor Mr Ayodele Fayose, whom he accused of working against the PDP by endorsing Governor Oyebanji.
According to Otunba Fayose, “I am still at a loss about why a PDP chieftain will be endorsing a governor elected on another platform, APC.
“This is nothing but acting in bad faith and a betrayal of trust considering what former governor Mr Ayodele Fayose has benefitted from the PDP in the past. Rather than build the party, he is busy destroying it.”
However, the governorship hopeful is hopeful that the PDP will win the governorship poll, considering that the APC-led government has failed abysmally in the state.
However, he expressed confidence that the PDP would eventually win the next election, with him as the party’s flag bearer.
Commenting on a recent interview granted by former governor Fayemi wherein he (Fayemi) was quoted to have carpeted the APC for the misery being suffered by Nigerians, Otunba Fayose praised him for the courage he displayed by telling the truth.
“The statement credited to my big brother (Fayemi) is welcomed, and I salute his courage for this because, in this climate, it has become challenging to admit mistakes when they are made.
“Let me, however, call on the former governor to go further and be categorical about the total misrule and ineptitude of Oyebanji administration,” he concluded.
