A political pressure group called ‘Is Good to be Good’ has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) not to repeat the mistake of not providing a level playing field for aspirants during party primary.
The call was made at a group’s public consultative meeting in the Bauchi South Senatorial District yesterday, where stakeholders discussed the leadership prospects of the state.

In his address, chairman and convener of the group, Ibrahim Lawi, urged PDP leaders at both state and national levels to learn from past missteps and ensure a level playing field during the party primaries.
Lawi said only by selecting the most qualified candidate could the PDP secure its hold on power after the 2027 general elections.

Lawi warned Governor Bala Mohammed against succumbing to pressure from political adversaries who might stoke tensions within the party.

“Abdul Ahmed Ningi has remained faithful and loyal to the PDP since its inception and has diligently paid his dues to the party. 2027 should be his payback year,” he asserted.

He further cautioned Bauchi State PDP members to steer clear of money politics and instead focus on choosing the candidate best equipped to carry forward the current developmental momentum.

The group further urged Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed to endorse Senator Abdul Ningi as his successor.

Other speakers at the meeting lauded Ningi, who currently represents the Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, over his contributions to the PDP.

According to the speakers, Ningi played an instrumental role in Governor Bala Mohammed’s initial rise to power in 2019 and his subsequent re-election in 2023—a period during which the governor had set aside his own aspirations after extensive consultations.

They argued that while Governor Bala Mohammed has been committed to the infrastructural development of the state, he needs a capable successor like Ningi to continue this progress beyond his tenure.
