The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has arrested a High Court registrar, several lawyers, and security personnel over alleged land grabbing and related criminal offences.

Chairman of the commission, Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed this while addressing journalists on Thursday, revealing that the suspects were part of an organised syndicate involved in forging government documents to illegally acquire land and sell same.

As part of the operation, the commission recovered ₦2 million cash, which was allegedly offered as a bribe to an official to evade arrest. One of the key suspects, Sulaiman Aliyu, who has over 50 land-related cases linked to him, is among those currently in detention.

Rimin Gado confirmed that 15 individuals have been arrested in connection with the crime, with some granted bail while investigations continued

“In another case involving the National Commission of Museums, a suspect fraudulently obtained a Magistrate Court order to demolish the property over an alleged debt. We have dismantled their operation and are preparing legal actions against them,” he stated.

The commission chairman commended Kano State Chief Judge, Justice Dije Aboki, for allowing due process in the detention of the High Court Registrar, a former Deputy Sheriff, a Bailiff, and others. He also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to fighting corruption despite intimidation from certain individuals.
