This insurance covered policy years 2020–2024 and is the ninth phase of insurance disbursement. It brings the total insurance benefits paid to 7,171, benefiting families since the IGP came to office to N20.84 billion.

Speaking at the cheque presentation, the IGP lamented the hardship the families of the dead officers had faced following delays in payments for years.

He, however, pledged to ensure improved welfare for police officers and continued insurance benefits payments.

The IGP reiterates the Force’s management‘s continual strive to provide succour for the families of our fallen heroes and improve the welfare of serving and retired officers.

Meanwhile, the IGP also unveiled the Police insurance claim management portal.

The IGP emphasised the significance of this initiative in addressing the backlog of unsettled insurance claims dating from 2010 to 2023, which had caused financial hardship for many affected families.

LEADERSHIP findings showed that the Nigeria Police Insurance Claims Management Portal (npfinsuranceclaimsmgt.ng) is a digital platform designed to streamline the insurance claims process, eliminate delays, and ensure seamless access to benefits, improving overall welfare and promoting transparency in the system.

In line with this initiative, a specialised training programme has also been introduced for insurance desk officers across 17 Zonal Commands and 37 State Commands to enhance efficiency in claims management and service delivery.
