The Kano State government has announced plans to partner with Muslim Charity For the United Kingdom to boost Islamic education in the state.

The state commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, revealed this when he received a delegation from the organisation on Wednesday.

Dr Makoda emphasised that the current administration is committed to overhauling the education sector and would welcome any partnership to help achieve that goal, noting that the state has declared a state of emergency and has introduced new initiatives to boost the sector.

Dr Makoda hinted that the partnership came at the right time and would improve Islamic education, particularly in Islamiyya schools.

He maintained that the state‘s Islamic school system is favourable, with a dedicated board overseeing operations to ensure quality education. He stressed that the engagement will focus on providing modern learning materials to enhance performance.

In his remarks, the delegation leader, Dr Samira Abdullahi, explained that the charity organisation is already working in Nigeria and partnering with local organisations to support the education and health sectors.

According to her, the foundation assists in school renovations, promotes educational development, and provides health facilities. She highlighted that they are at the ministry to discuss collaboration areas and briefed the commissioner on their activities.
