The district governor of the Lions Club, Engr Taiwo Fatoki, disclosed this at the club’s second convention, which was held in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Fatoki, who assumed office as the club’s governor in July 2024, said that about 500 diabetes patients were screened and treated in Mushin, Lagos State, while another 500 patients were treated in Otta, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Ibadan, Oyo State, respectively.

The district governor, who described diabetes as a silent killer, advised Nigerians to take care of their health by conducting regular tests on their health in reputable healthcare facilities.

He explained that the Lion Club, which has existed for over a century, was established to provide humanitarian services to people all over the world.

“Lions International has six districts in Nigeria and has been rendering humanitarian services to alleviate the suffering of humans, especially in blindness, diabetes, paediatric cancer, youth empowerment programmes and environmental disaster,” he said.

He said that the club has been providing various services across the country, adding that his predecessor empowered many widows and women with grinding machines while Lions International donated $10,000 United States dollars to victims of a flood disaster in Borno State last year.”

Speaking on the convention theme, “Service Without Boundaries”, Fatoki said it was brought to Ogbomoso to extend the club’s services to other parts of the district.
