Rep Sensitises Constituents On Early Detection, Treatment Of Glaucoma

Member representing Bassa/Jos North federal constituency of Plateau State, Hon. Daniel Asama has commenced Glaucoma Health Support Initiative programme aimed at ensuring balanced and sufficient healthcare for his constituents.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the health programme would hold at selected Primary Health Centers across Bassa/Jos North federal constituency.

Asama in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Jos the Plateau State capital said the theme of the programme is “Glaucoma, Approaches for Detection, Monitoring, and Treatment”.

Our correspondent reports that glaucoma is one of the leading causes of irreversible blindness, yet early detection and proper treatment can help manage the condition effectively.

According to him, “The initiative will focus on raising awareness, providing essential medications, and supporting primary health centers in the fight against glaucoma and other health challenges”.
He further explained that the objectives of the Initiative is to supply basic drugs to enhance healthcare services in selected primary health centers.

Others are free eye screening for early glaucoma detection and other eye-related conditions and public sensitization on the importance of early diagnosis, regular check-ups, and available treatment options among others.
