Troops Kill 217 Terrorists, Arrest 574 Others As 152 Surrender In February

A total of 217 terrorists were killed and 574 others arrested by the Nigerian troops on internal operations in the month of February 2025.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) disclosed this through Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, who stated this in a statement that 152 terrorists also surrendered to troops while 320 hostages were rescued within the period.

Maj.-Gen. Kangye added that troops also arrested 122 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N2,199,914,942.00.

According to the statement, troops also recovered 296 and 7,245 assorted weapons and ammunition respectively.

He gave a breakdown of recovered weapons as 159 AK47 rifles, 54 locally fabricated guns, 36 dane guns, 19 pump action guns, 4,836 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,506 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 235 cartridges as well as other 28 assorted arms and 668 assorted ammunitions.
