Ramadan: Governors, Wike, Others Seek More Prayers For Nigeria

State governors and other government officials have urged the Muslim faithful to use the Ramadan period which started yesterday to intensify prayers to Allah for Nigeria’s peace and progress.

Several governors, the FCT minister and Federal Executive Council among others urged Muslims to use the holy month to reflect on the purpose and lessons of the Ramadan.

Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, congratulated Muslims worldwide, and especially in the state on the commencement of the Ramadan fast,

and thanked Allah for preserving their lives to witness another Ramadan.

The governor urged the people to spend the solemn month praying for a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation and Kwara State.

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo urged Muslims to imbibe the virtues of patience, sacrifice and compassion for the underprivileged.

In his message to people of the state,

Governor Ododo described the month of Ramadan as a sacred time for reflection on the goodness of Allah, devotion to worship and self-discipline.

He encourage the people to love one another, embrace peace, mutual respect and understanding to enhance development of the state irrespective of differences in faith.

Governor of Niger State,  Mohammed Umaru Bago and Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, called for sustained prayers for the president, country and Niger State for Allah’s direction on how best to secure lives and property and return the country to the path of prosperity.

Bago said Ramadan Fast is a special month of spiritual exercise that brings about blessings, favours and forgiveness from Allah to those that participate in it.

The Etsu Nupe said prayer remained the most effective weapon against any form of challenge saying that security challenges such as insurgency, banditry and kidnapping could be overcome through  prayers by the Muslim faithful in the holy month of Ramadan.

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo,

urged Muslims to use the Holy Month to pray for peace in Edo State and Nigeria while extending love to their neighbors, the needy and the underprivileged.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, encouraged Muslims across the nation to utilise the period as an opportunity to offer prayers to Allah  for the peaceful coexistence of the country.

Wike stressed the importance of embracing the teachings of Islamic scholars during this sacred time.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen has urged Nigerian Muslims to pray for the country and its leaders.

Speaker Abbas said Nigeria’s unity was paramount, which is why adherents of all religions must continue to offer sincere prayers for the country.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, on behalf of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), urged Muslims to use the holy month  to reflect on the purpose and lessons of the Ramadan which include piety, steadfastness, love, charity, and sacrifice, in adherence to the teachings  of the Qur’an and the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) for spiritual rejuvenation and renewed national growth and development.
