Similarly, Jim Okolo met with the minister of water resources, Engineer Joseph Terlumun Utsev, at his office in Abuja, where they held private discussions.

Jim Okolo had embarked on a courtesy visit to the former Nigerian leader and intimated him with some of the activities of his organisation, Nouvelle Perspective International, and how it has helped sustain the confidence of the electorate through an unbiased electoral observation mission.

He thanked the former president for his interest in the country’s development, even at an old age, despite having everything he needed for a comfortable life.

According to Jim Okolo, Obasanjo’s constant communication through letter writing and other means has helped keep leaders on their toes, aiming to retool their policies to benefit a larger population of Nigerians.

During the visit, the former president also gave him a book titled “Election Your Power, Take It To The Polls,” written by Alexander Onoja, to assist in his mission of observing elections worldwide.

Former President Obasanjo, who was full of thanks for the visit, encouraged Jim Okolo to continue making noble contributions to advance the horizon of democracy in Africa.

Meanwhile, at the meeting with the water resources minister, Engineer Joseph Terlumun Utsev, discussions centred on utilising the nation’s abundant water resources to increase agricultural and manufacturing output.

During his recent visit to the United States, Jim Okolo met with investors in different sectors of the economy, including those who specialise in building dams worldwide. Their investment is expected to bring humongous value to the country.

Our correspondent was reliably informed that foreign investors are ready to enter into a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme with his ministry to revamp existing dams and construct new ones across the nation.
