In a commendable effort to combat period poverty, Run Club Abuja (RCA) Women’s Run has empowered 500 secondary school girls in Abuja by providing them with free sanitary towels, sufficient for six months.

The initiative, launched in conjunction with the 10km Women’s Run celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, aims to promote hygiene and bolster educational focus among young women.

Stephanie Adamu, Secretary of the RCA Women’s Run Organizing Committee, revealed that the distribution was made possible by the participation of 500 women who took part in the run, highlighting the initiative’s commitment to corporate social responsibility.

Temitope Oguche, Founder of the Gracious Sacrificial Daughters Fellowship Foundation, endorsed the initiative, stressing its importance in allowing girls to attend school without the stigma of inadequate menstrual hygiene.

Meanwhile, Michael Edoh, Principal of Junior Secondary School Nyanya II, praised the initiative as a much-needed relief for families facing economic hardships.
