El-Tahdan Exploration Limited (EEL) has appealed to the federal government to intervene in the ongoing dispute on the mining site at Libata in Kebbi State.

At a press briefing in Abuja yesterday, the managing director of El-Tahdan, Adamu Tah, stated that Three Crown Ltd and its Chinese partner, Canmax, had continued mining operations at a site in Libata, despite a recent court ruling in favour of El-Tahdan Exploration Limited.

He said, “El-Tahdan is the rightful licensee of the mining site, and we therefore call upon the federal government to intervene and compel the illegal operators to vacate the site, allowing our company to resume its mining operations.”

Tah added that despite multiple court rulings against Three Crown and Canmax, they had persisted in their activities in defiance of a stop-work order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction.

“The presiding judge in this case, Justice E. Gakko, declined jurisdiction and resolved the matter in favour of El-Tahdan, citing violations of the Nigerian Minerals and Mining Act of 2007. Despite this clear legal ruling, Three Crown and Canmax have continued their operations, seemingly with the backing of influential political figures.”

“The actions of Three Crown and Canmax raise serious concerns regarding the influence of foreign entities and the integrity of Nigeria’s legal system. What we require is for law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and take decisive action against these flagrant violators.”

“We urge the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Minister of Interior, the Nigerian Army, the National Security Adviser, and the President of Nigeria to intervene and hold Three Crown and Canmax accountable for their illegal actions.”

He further stated that it is imperative that, when justice is served, the rightful owner of the mining site is allowed to operate without interference.
