The administrator of Abia Eye Health Management Bureau, Betty Emeka-Obasi has said there is no option to regular eye check-up in the campaign against glaucoma.

Emeka-Obasi spoke to LEADERSHIP during the observation of this year‘s World Glaucoma Week with the theme „Let‘s Beat Invisible Glaucoma,“ in Umuahia, the state capital.

She stressed that everyone should subject themselves to regular eye check by experts as early detection is the key to managing glaucoma and preventing irreversible vision loss.

She informed that the bureau is partnering local government area mayors in the state to organise a 3-day outreach in the areas on the disease from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14.

According to the administrator, during the outreach, there will be free eye screening, medication, and prescription of glasses to those that require them.

She lauded and appreciated the state governor, Alex Otti for his commitment to providing healthcare services in the state particularly in the area of vision care.
