During the opening of the four-day training at the National Institute for Sports in Lagos, Director-General Professor Olawale Moronkola stated that the training would ultimately ensure the growth of netball, as it will now be incorporated into the curriculum of the NIS. He also revealed that a manual would be produced to raise awareness for the development of the sport. “This is not just a collaboration between the National Institute for Sports and the Netball Federation, but an effort to increase interest in netball and to produce more coaches throughout the country.”

Also speaking, Secretary General of the Nigerian Netball Federation, Dr. Toyin Aluko, expressed, “We are delighted to be collaborating with the NIS to promote netball across all parts of the country. We have started with the South West, but there are plans to extend this initiative to all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. We thank the Director-General of the National Institute for Sports, Professor Olawale Moronkola, for his support and generosity in agreeing to host the clinic.
This marks a new dawn for netball development.”
