A group, the Supreme Council for Sim Worldwide (SCSW), has kicked against the call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to resign within 48 hours or face impeachment.

APC chairman in the state, Chief Tony Okocha, had while addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday, accused Fubara of mismanaging the state, violating the law and disrespecting President Bola Tinubu, who previously intervened in the state’s political crisis with an eight-point agenda.

But, speaking with newsmen on Monday night in Port Harcourt, two leaders of the group, Joshua Fubara and Esezi Obilor-Rukani, described Okocha’s remarks as provocative.

On his part, Joshua, who cautioned the APC chairman and others pushing for the governor’s removal against mistaking his humility for weakness, argued that if the governor had adopted the confrontational approach of some political figures, the state would have been thrown into chaos.

He asserted that based on Fubara’s performance, Rivers people should be considering a second term for Fubara, a cause the group is already advocating.

Also, Obilor-Rukani dismissed the impeachment threats, stating that Fubara had not committed any impeachable offence.

He commended the governor for governing with integrity and a humane approach, citing key achievements such as the long-overdue promotion of civil servants after eight years and the adoption of an ₦85,000 minimum wage.
