Obi made the commendation on Friday when he donated N10 million to the diocese’s Holy Rosary College of Nursing currently under construction.

After presenting the N10 million cheque to the Bishop of the Ahiara Catholic Diocese, Most Rev Simeon Nwobi flanked by the vicar-general, Very Rev Fr Godson Okoro, the financial administrator, Rev Fr Laz Iwu, and the bishop’s secretary, Rev Fr Matthew Iwuazu, among others, the former Anambra State governor commended them for doing a great service to the country.

Obi said, “My Lords, what you are doing is a favour to our country. So, this donation is not a favour being done to you. You are helping to build a better country. So, I will be part of what you are doing here. I will always come to support you because you are building a better future for our country.”

The former governor of Anambra State said the government ought to provide quality education for the children, including payment of teachers’ salaries at all levels, providing free education in public and private schools, especially in primary and secondary school levels.

While expressing his gratitude for the gesture, Bishop Nwobi lauded Obi for his relentless efforts towards building a better Nigeria.

“We are not only grateful to you for coming to make this donation to us, you have been doing a lot for our country to be better. Count on our prayers for the will of God to be done in your life”, Bishop Nwobi assured Obi.
