To demonstrate its commitment to gender equality and support for survivors of gender-based violence, a leading Nigerian business law firm, G. Elias, has organised community outreach activities in Lagos and Abuja to commemorate International Women’s Day 2025.

The initiative included visits to the Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence, Abuse, and Trafficking in Lagos, as well as the Dorothy Njemanze Foundation in Abuja, which serves as a refuge for survivors of gender-based, sexual, and domestic violence.

In recognition of the United Nations’ call for collective action to advance gender equality and support survivors of gender-based violence, G. Elias aimed to foster empowerment and provide critical resources for survivors and at-risk individuals through its outreach activities.

Representatives from G. Elias engaged with survivors at both shelters, offering encouragement and emotional support while donating essential items to enhance their well-being.

In her speech at the event, Mrs Nana Dare, Chief Operating Officer at G. Elias, emphasised the firm’s long-standing commitment to gender equality, social justice, and women’s empowerment.

She also highlighted the importance of continuous efforts to create inclusive opportunities for women.

Mrs Dare said, “At G. Elias, we believe empowering women is essential to building a more just and equitable society. Our outreach initiatives, including visits to these shelters, reflect this commitment. We are also dedicated to fostering economic and social inclusion for women in all aspects of life.

“Through initiatives like these, we aim to drive real impact by addressing immediate needs and advocating for long-term solutions that promote gender equality, professional advancement, and economic empowerment. We remain steadfast in our efforts to contribute meaningfully to the broader movement for women’s rights and inclusion,” she stated.

Hadizah Shittu, Human Resources Executive at G. Elias, also reaffirmed the firm’s commitment, stating, “Women’s empowerment and equality are central to our approach, as we believe that true progress comes from ensuring that all individuals, regardless of background, have access to growth opportunities.’’
