The prime suspect in the murder of 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Salome Adaidu, Timileyin Ajayi, appeared in court in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Monday, as his trial began officially.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Timileyin, who was arraigned in January before Justice Simon Aboki of the High Court of Justice in Lafia, the State capital, pleaded not guilty to the murder of late Miss Salome Adaidu, whose severed head was found in his possession.

Other parts of her dismembered body were found in his residence during a search by security operatives.

Ajayi was arraigned on a one-count charge of Culpable Homicide Punishable with Death, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.

The court, however, adjourned the case, scheduling the trial to continue from March 17 to March 20.
