The Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the four Emirates in the State to commence preparations for the Sallah Durbar to ensure that citizens and visitors enjoy the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festival to the fullest.

This is as he also hinted that the State government was ready to inaugurate the State Emirates’ Council in April.

Governor Yusuf disclosed this through his verified Facebook page late Tuesday night after hosting the Emirs in the State to a Ramadan Iftar at the Government House in Kano.

He wrote: “This evening, I hosted our esteemed Emirs, led by His Royal Highness, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano to a Ramadan iftar meeting, at the Government House, Kano, on Tuesday.

“During the engagement, I directed all the four Emirates in Kano to commence preparations for the Sallah Durbar to ensure that citizens and visitors enjoy the festive period to the fullest.

“I emphasised that the people of the state eagerly anticipate the tradition of wearing new clothes on Sallah Day, and lining the streets to witness their Emirs on horseback, with the exchange of greetings.

“Additionally, I stated that his administration will not relent and will not allow any adversaries to deprive citizens of this cherished right.

“I also assured the public that all security agencies in the state will be engaged to provide adequate protection for the people during the celebration.

“Similarly, I also disclosed that the Kano State Emirate Council will be inaugurated in April this year to enable it to function effectively.

“While expressing my gratitude for their support and leadership, I commended the Emirs for the maturity and positive relationship they have demonstrated since their appointments, noting that this marks the first time in the state’s history where there is such absolute respect among the Emirs, particularly in terms of hierarchy.”
