Eyewitness accounts indicated that the fire started around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday and was believed to have been triggered by a spark on an electric pole when the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) restored the area’s power supply.

The fire incident is said to have ravaged several factories engaged in nylon and plastic production in the hub.

One of the witnesses, Ibrahim Aliyu, said that the fire had destroyed production machines, raw materials, and finished goods in the market.

Meanwhile, the newly deployed state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Bakori, who visited the scene, sympathised with the victims and ordered a discreet investigation into the cause of the fire incident.

While noting that no lives were lost, he urged members of the public to exercise caution to prevent fire-related cases.

However, the spokesperson of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed the fire incident and said detailed information would be released upon the completion of the investigation.
