Kebbi Customs Rakes In N13.378m In 1 Month

Kebbi State Area Command of Nigeria Custom Service (NCS) has said it generated N13.37 million within one month in spite of the huge setback occasioned by the closure of the major borders leaving with only one authorised and official border,  Kamba in the state.

This development was made known by the newly posted Customs Area Controller  of Kebbi Area Command,  Chidi Chukumeziri Nwokorie made this known during a media briefing held on Thursday at the Command’s headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.

CC Nwokorie said the success of the generated amount was based on the collaborative efforts of the men of the Command together with the sister security personnel such as NDLEA, NAFDAC, NPF, NSA, NIS, DSS and NA.

He further disclosed that the activities of the Command is not only the smuggling in and out of used clothes,  foreign rice, oil and petroleum products that it fights against but, seize and destruction of illicit drugs,  guns and other dangerous and prohibited items.

CC Nwokorie also listed some seized items within one month which his men confiscated from the smugglers which include; one hundred and forty five bales of used second- hand clothings,  thirteen thousand, seven hundred and fifty litres of PMS, one and fourteen bags of foreign rice of 50kg each,  twenty cartoons of New Light cigarette, seventy bags of vanilla wafer expired biscuits,  twenty seven cartoons of Sunwatt AA dry expired battery and forty bags of foreign sugar of 50kg each which total of their duty paid valued at N84,219,654 million.

The new controller thanked CGC, Bashir  Adewale Adeniyi for finding him worthy to serve as Kebbi Area Command controller.

He noted that he will work hand in hand with the gallant officers in the Command in achieving his set objectives.
