Stakeholders in Bauchi State have raised the alarm over dwindling support for family planning initiatives, calling for urgent action to ensure their sustainability and accessibility.

The appeal was made during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting organised by the Bauchi State Government in collaboration with The Challenge Initiative Nigeria (TCI).

The chairman of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Board, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, expressed concern over the withdrawal of funding from major international agencies such as USAID.

He warned that this could severely impact access to reproductive health services, ultimately threatening maternal and child health in the state.

Echoing his sentiments, TCI Consultant Mr Yakubu Abubakar stressed the need to expand family planning services, particularly in underserved rural communities.

He urged the government to ensure affordable and readily available family planning commodities.
