The National Coordinator of Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG), Alh Abdullahi Ibrahim has appealed to two eminent Islamic scholars of Ilorin descent – Sheikh Habeebullah Adam Al- Ilory and the Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa to stop attacking each other on the social media.

Ibrahim reminded the warring clerics that the issue between them could be settled amicably without recourse to accusation and counter-accusation on the social media.

He stressed that the MMWG felt embarrassed by accusation and counter accusation between the two scholars in the public space.

Ibrahim reminded the duo of the danger and disturbance to public peace that their misunderstanding could cause in Ilorin Emirate and Kwara State as a whole.

He drew the attention of the two scholars to the Holy Qur’an Chapter 2 verse 44 which cautions religious leaders on bad behaviour of ‘calling people to what is right, and behaving unIslamically; warning that it is a sign of disbelief in the Almighty Allah.’
