An Islamic scholar, Dr Mahmud Danjuma Musa made the callĀ  in Ilorin, Kwara State at a Ramadan lecture organised byĀ  Maslam Islamic Foundation.

Musa who teaches at the department of Arabic and Transnational Studies of the University of Ilorin, said it takes the likes of the late president of the Court Appeal to be in positions of authority for Nigeria to grow.

“The late Justice Mustapha Akanbi was an incorruptible judge, an honest community leader who stood byĀ  the truth at all times and in all circumstances. He didn’t leave any wealth behind for his children . He only bequeathed to them good name and exemplary conduct.

“His late son and former vice chancellor of Kwara State University( KWASU), Malete, Prof. Mohammed Mustapha Akanbi followed his footsteps before he also departed this world.

“I therefore enjoin Nigerians, especially those in positions of authority to emulate the exemplary conduct of the late Justice Mustapha Akanbi so that they can bequeath positive legacies to their children,” Musa said.

He hailed the incumbent vice chancellor of KWASU, Prof. Shaykh Lukman – Jimoh for his support for the MaslamĀ  Foundation and the Akanbi family for sustaining the legacies of their patriarch.

Musa also admonishedĀ  Muslims to take advantage of the last phase of Ramadan fast to rejuvenate themselves spiritually,Ā  while urging them to continue with righteous deeds after Ramadan.

He urged the rich to help the needy during this period in order to earn Allah’s pleasure.

Earlier, the chairman of the occasion, Prof. Shaykh Lukman – Jimoh, had praised the foresight of the late Justice Akanbi in establishing the foundation, thanking the management of the foundation for keeping the flag flying.

The coordinator of Maslam Foundation, Mal. Jibril Toyin Ali, listed the interventions of the foundation to include helping the needy and paying fees to free prisoners who couldn’t afford the payment of the fees imposed on them.

He recalled how the foundation came to the aide of a prisoner who had spent 60 years in the correctional centre.
