Wamakko has for over ten years, spend millions of naira to pay fines for the freedom of inmates with minor offenses.

This year, the Senator has continued this tradition by securing the freedom of the 60 inmates to celebrate Eid while also assisting the government in decongesting detention centres.

At the ceremony to release the inmates, Sokoto State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Nasir Muhammad Binji who was represented by Barrister Umar Aliyu, congratulated the inmates on regaining their freedom.

He praised Wamakko, who was a former governor in the state, of his commitment to supporting the poor, needy, and less privileged across the state.

Senator Wamakko’s representative at the event, Barr. Abdulhamid Zubair explained that the gesture was part of the Senator’s philanthropic efforts.

He called on the freed inmates to reflect on their past actions and repent.

The senator also gave each of the 60 freed inmates the sum of N10,000 as transportation to return to their respective destinations.
