Educationists and professionals have stressed the need for inclusion of more women in the development of the country.

The experts who converged on Lagos for the International Women’s Day celebration organised by a Lagos-based school, Springfield Private School/ Bosede Idehen International Academy, applauded the contributions of women, particularly, mothers and educators, in shaping future generations.
The institution, which operates under a blended American and Nigerian curriculum, did this to mark the just-concluded 2025 International Women’s Day, with the theme, “Empowered Mothers, Inspired Generations.”

The school’s director, Mrs Idehen Ovabor, emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating the efforts of women in nurturing and educating the younger generation, stating that there is a need to encourage positive change by supporting and empowering women.

The keynote speaker at the event, Mrs Funmilayo Adeegbe, who is also the CEO of TF Fashion Empire Limited, delivered a thought-provoking address on the importance of women in society and the necessity of self-empowerment.

She highlighted the power of educated and financially independent women, the challenges they must overcome, and the significance of prioritising their health and well-being.

In a practical demonstration of empowerment, Adeegbe conducted a hands-on-skills training session where participants learned how to make liquid soap and disinfectants.

She explained that such skills could provide financial support for families and serve as a means of economic empowerment for women, especially those seeking additional streams of income.
