The All Progressives Congress (APC), Cross River State, has denied writing a petition against the senator representing Cross River North senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator Jarigbe Agom, over N12.5 billion constituency funds.

The state’s party chairman, Alphonsus Ogar, denied the allegations yesterday in Calabar while answering questions from LEADERSHIP over a  petition by the  Northern Cross River Coalition (NORTHCO) against the senator.

He stated that the leadership of the party has no involvement in the N12.5bn petition  against the PDP senator, and constituency funds, and  dissociated  the APC from involvement in any petition writing.

Ogar maintained that the APC  did not authorise one  Bernard Afu, a member of the coalition  to write a petition against the lawmaker on the constituency funds  allocated to the northern senatorial district in the 2025 budget.

In his words, Ogar said, “Bernard Afu was not engaged by the party in the guise of concerned stakeholders of the APC in the Northern Cross River.

“I want to say that the right to do so is vested in this party under my leadership. This party fully dissociates self  from that.

“On no account should anybody in the interest of our party engage any lawyer for any purposes that gives an impression that the party is behind it.

“Therefore, the petition purportedly from the APC support group written against a sitting Senator of the Northern senatorial district on the issue of N12.5 billion constituency funds is not from us” .

The state party  chairman maintained that NORTHCO is purely an APC affair and recognised by the party  as a support group. ” I expect the group to fully register with the party,” APC state party chairman maintained.
