Hauwa Bala, the wife of late Isah Bala—one of the hunters murdered by an illegal viligates group in Uromi, Edo State—went into premature labour upon receiving the devastating news of her husband’s death.

She gave birth to a baby girl shortly after, but now faces an uncertain future as the sole provider for their six fatherless children.

Speaking from her home in Ungwan Salari in Kano, Hauwa expressed deep distress over the loss of her husband, who had been the family’s sole breadwinner. “I don’t know how I will take care of my family now. I have nothing tangible to do,” she said, her voice filled with despair.

She further revealed that her late husband had shouldered the family’s financial responsibilities, covering their living expenses and their children’s school fees. Now widowed, she is left without any clear means of survival.
