The apex sociopolitical organisation in Etche land, the Etche Ethnic Nationality Forum, has warned against attacks on the immediate past Head of Service of Rivers State, Dr George Nwaeke.
In a press statement jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Dr Nwanyanwu Kingsley Chioma and Hon Bestman Azonwu yesterday, the group said, “Our attention has been drawn to the tissues of lies perpetrated by a faceless group masquerading in the name of Etche Simplify Movement trying to cast aspersions on the person Dr George Nwaeke.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr George Nwaeke is a bastion of sterling and exemplary leadership in the civil service. Dr George Nwaeke is a proud son of Etche Nation who rose from the position of a lecturer, accountant, sole administrator of Abua/Odual LGA, permanent secretary and Head of Service of Rivers State. In all his years of service, Dr George Nwaeke displayed exemplary service and integrity.
“We frown at the Leaders of Etche Simplified Movement for insulting the immediate past head of service, Dr George Nwaeke.
“The Simplified Movement is a team of never-do-well politicians who have lost touch with reality because, ordinarily, they were expected to have commended Dr George Nwaeke for his boldness in exposing the ugly and corrupt dealings within the Fubara administration.
“Etche Simplified Movement can best be described as a group of political interlopers and busybodies who made a press conference just to massage the already battered ego of the suspended governor.
“As the highest decision-making organisation in Etche land, irrespective of political affiliation, declares that Dr George Nwaeke represents the true spirit of an Etche man, who is bold to speak truth to power no matter whose ox is gored. We admonish other true sons and daughters of Etche land to follow in the footsteps of Dr George Nwaeke in their careers and rise to the pinnacle of their respective endeavours.”
The forum gave those that denigrated the person of Dr George Nwaeke 48 hours to apologise to the Etche Nation and Dr George Nwaeke or face punitive consequences from the Etche people.
The forum endorsed President Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency and urged the Rivers people to support the sole administrator in restoring peace and stability in Rivers State.
