Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved N14 billion amendment to the 2025 budget for key infrastructure in the state.

The amendment aims to fund priority projects in infrastructure, education, agriculture, health, and environmental sensitisation across the state.

Briefing journalists after the council meeting, the commissioner for information and strategy, Mr. Iliya James, stated that the council’s approval did not constitute a supplementary budget but a realignment of the existing 2025 budget to accommodate the administration’s new priorities.

Among the key projects captured in the budget amendment are the construction of the Adamawa State International Conference Centre, upgrade of the State College of Agricultural Science and Technology and funding the state’s counterpart contribution to the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAMP).

Mr. James emphasised the importance of these developments in aligning the state’s budget with the current vision of the administration, stating: “This amendment ensures that the budget takes its proper shape and captures projects that were omitted earlier.”

Also approved is the award of contracts to consultants for both pre-and post-contract services for the remodeling and redevelopment of the staff quarters at the State Specialist Hospital, Yola.

The commissioner for budget and economic planning, Emmanuel Predimso, said the amendment reallocated resources within the budget to fund essential new projects that the governor deemed urgent for the state’s development.
