Osun LG Crisis: APC Raises The Alarm Over Alleged Plan To Procure Judgment

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by Governor Ademola Adeleke to procure a judgement from a state High Court sitting in Ikirun to launch another round of attack on the local government chairmen and councillors elected on its platform.
It would be recalled that, following the controversial reinstatement of chairmen and councillors elected in 2022 by a Federal Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the political functionaries have taken charge of local government secretariats across the state.

Addressing a press conference in Osogbo on Sunday, the APC, through a former state Commissioner for Information, Hon Sunday Akere, said the plan was designed to subject the state to another round of anarchy.

Akere revealed that the state government had concluded an arrangement to procure the ‘kangaroo judgment’ from the court in Ikirun on April 17, 2025, to pervert the course of justice and bring the chairman elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the councils through the backdoor.

The party noted that it has reliably gathered that it is the purchased order of mandamus from the pliable High Court judge in Ikirun which Governor Adeleke is banking on to bring chairmen to the council with the aid of Amotekun Corps and thugs by all means without reflecting on the consequences of his action to the security of lives and property.

The APC reaffirmed its commitment to resisting any illegal means capable of causing political unrest and undermining the security and sanctity of the judiciary in the state, saying: “Adeleke’s executive recklessness, security compromise, abuse of power, and judicial integrity will be resisted without apology.”

Reacting to the accusations, the spokesperson for the state governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described them as false, adding that APC is only afraid of backlash over its illegal occupation of local government, thereby blackmailing the judiciary.

He made it known that apart from three litigations hanging on the neck of the APC, Governor Adeleke has no plans to institute any court action after his directive to the elected local government functionaries in the state.
