The Kano State governor Abba Yusuf, has mourned the passing away of one of the Kano State correspondents of The Punch Newspaper, Mr. Ted Odogwu.

The governor in a statement signed by his spokesperson Sanusi Bature, condoled with his family, the state chapters of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)  and the Correspondents’ Chapel.

The governor described the late Odogwu as a thoroughbred journalist whose wealth of experience contributed to the development and practice of journalism not only in Kano but in the entire nation.

Yusuf also acknowledged the contributions of the late journalist in mentoring and moulding the younger generation of the Pen  Profession, who are now prominent journalists.

He encouraged his families and colleagues to take solace in his loss and have faith in God, as He is the giver and taker of life.

“On behalf of the government and good people of the state extend heartfelt condolences to the families and professional colleagues of the deceased,” he stated.

Similarly, the state correspondent chapel, in a statement signed by the chairman, Alhaji Aminu Garko, commiserated with his immediate family, The Punch Newspapers, and the public.

Garko described Odogwu as a respected and valued member of the Chapel, known for his exceptional journalistic skills and commitment to the pursuit of truth.
