The minister stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the House of Representatives Committee on Climate Change to the headquarters of the ministry on Tuesday.

In his remarks, Keyamo emphasised the need for a stronger partnership between the ministry and the committee to address climate change, particularly in the aviation sector, which he acknowledged as a contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

He said, “the aviation sector globally is recognized as one of the contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, and Nigeria is no exception

“Our growing aviation industry must balance the need for development with the imperative to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt sustainable practices.”

He noted Nigeria’s adherence to international climate agreements, including the Paris Agreement and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
