Africa’s richest man and president of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has emphasised that no country can rely solely on external solutions to address its internal challenges.

Dangote called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to tackle Nigeria’s economic hurdles, highlighting the importance of domestic investment and innovation.

This appeal comes as global economic uncertainties continue to unfold following the stiff trade tariffs imposed on countries by US President Donald Trump.

Dangote, while receiving his award as ‘Person of the Year 2024’ during the 17th LEADERSHIP Annual Conference and Awards in Abuja on Tuesday, stressed the need for stakeholders across both public and private sectors to collaborate in addressing Nigeria’s economic challenge.

Dangote was awarded Person of The Year 2024, for his unwavering commitment to Africa’s advancement in reshaping industries and driving self-sufficiency across the continent, especially for his relentless pursuit of innovation and investment to catalyse self-sufficiency across the continent, reduce dependence on imports and foster job creation for millions.

Africa’s richest man, was represented by the special adviser to the president/CEO of Dangote Group, Mansur Ahmed.

Dangote highlighted the importance of collective action, noting that no country can rely on others to solve its problems.

He commended the LEADERSHIP Group for their awards initiative, which he believes will encourage economic growth and development.

“I commend and congratulate the LEADERSHIP Group for this amazing initiative which is absolutely critical in encouraging and promoting the growth of our economy and indeed the development of our country as a whole.”

“We in the private sector and particularly the Dangote Group regard the award as critical in sustaining our effort to make our contribution to the growth of the economy.
