Speaking during the presentation of buses at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, Idris told the gathering that the distribution followed the request made by the chairmen of local governments to provide their councillors with mobility for legislative functions, especially in rural areas.

He said, “I understand some councillors don’t have private vehicles. Therefore, these buses will assist them in discharging their legislative functions in the constituencies or even in the state when the need arises.”

Governor Idris, however, urged the councillors to ensure proper use and maintenance of the buses.

Receiving the keys of the vehicles on behalf of the 21 local government councillors, the chairman of Birnin Kebbi local government, Alhaji Muhammed Dahiru Ambursa, assured the governor that the buses would be used for the purpose they were given.
