LEADERSHIP reports that Imam  Abdul’aziz, died about five days ago after a protracted illness. He was a highly reverred Islamic scholar with expertise in Islamic monotheism and Sunnah.

He described Imam Abdul’aziz as a revered Islamic cleric whose teachings resonated far beyond Nigeria’s borders.

“He is my friend. He is a respected Islamic cleric. His preaching reached every Hausa-speaking part of Sub-Saharan Africa,” Ribadu said.

He added, “President Bola Tinubu directed me to represent him because he travelled out of the country.”

Ribadu’s visit underscored the federal government’s recognition of the cleric’s immense contribution to Islamic scholarship, tackling extremism and spiritual guidance across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Also, Imam Dr Abdul’aziz was renowned for his fiery sermons, unwavering principles, and influence in Islamic education, particularly in Northern Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the bereaved family, Malam Yau Idris expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for identifying with them during their time of loss.
