Four days after her abduction, Coordinator of Ngbo Central Development Centre in Ohaukwu local government area, Mrs. Blessing Adagba, has regained her freedom.

Adagba who was abducted by unknown gunmen in the early hours of Friday, 4th of April, 2025, reportedly regained her freedom on Tuesday night.

According to a family source, the incident did not only left the family traumatised but also gave rise for more security concerns in the local government and the state in general.

The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the abductors had demanded for ransom to release the abductee but could not confirm if the family and the state government were able to meet up with the demand of the abductors before her release.

Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security, Ohaukwu local government area of the State, Hon Tobias Ogbonna who confirmed the release of the Coordinator noted that she was released on Tuesday.

He also did not confirm if a ransom was paid to the abductors before the release.

LEADERSHIP gathered that a group of men said to be wearing military camouflage invaded the residence of the victim and ordered her to open the door, but she refused, questioning why unidentified persons would invade her house at such an hour.

The armed kidnappers later overpowered the Coordinator and forcefully abducted her to an unknown location.

Stakeholders and security operatives in Ohaukwu local government area were said to have mobilised efforts for her safe return but to no avail as her whereabouts were unknown until she was freed on Tuesday.

Community leaders have expressed deep concern over the rise in criminal activities in the area, calling for increased measures to protect residents.

The community leaders also decried recent incidents of killings, cult-related activities, kidnapping and other criminal occurrences in the local government.
