Criminals have reportedly stolen a vehicle belonging to a staff of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in Abuja on Friday.

Reports said the vehicle was parked around 1:05pm opposite the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) secretariat in Area 10, while the onwer attended Juma’at prayers at a nearby mosque.

According to a post by Zagazola Makama on X (formerly Twitter), he disclosed that the ONSA official returned from the mosque only to find the vehicle missing.

According to him, a source said the theft was immediately reported to the Garki Police Division at approximately 2:00pm, leading to a swift response by law enforcement agents.

However, the FCT Police Command denied issuing any statement saying the NSA car was stolen and that the command had activated a stop-and-search operations at various checkpoints and across all entry and exit points in the capital city.

FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said: “I did not issue any statement that the NSA’s car was stolen or that we are launching a manhunt to recover any car.”

Contrary to earlier reports, top security sources told LEADERSHIP that it was not possible for an official vehicle belonging to the NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to be stolen during Jumu’at prayer.

They argued that such would only happen “if the NSA entourage comprise of only Muslims which is not possible.”

The sources said the NSA and Service Chiefs’ convoys have operatives of both faiths and their drivers are not allowed to disembark from their vehicles.
