Plateau State government has pledged to complete 49 abandoned projects it inherited from the administration of former Governor Simon Lalong. The commissioner for works, Hon. Joshua Ubandoma, spoke on the projects yesterday.

Ubandoma disclosed this during a tour of projects in the southern and central senatorial zones of the state.

He said Governor Mutfwang had approved the mobilisation of contractors and Mould Nigeria Limited, 18th Engineering Construction Company among others to sites to ensure the projects are completed and put to use.

He said the tour had further exposed him to the realities on ground, adding that the Ministry of Works would collaborate with the Ministry of Environment to construct drainages for erosion control in the southern zone.

Some of the projects visited include the Langtang Lalin Garkawa road, Yelwa bridge, Jibam DokaTofa bridge, Mararaban Demshi Kalong road, Langtang and Wase road, Jarmi-Bashar road, Kerang-Ampang road network and Lankang Dyis road among many others.

The commissioner also stated that the Lankang Dyis road if completed would enable motorists coming from the South East to take a short cut from Lafia to Kurgwi and Dokan Tofa down to Jibam and connect straight to Pankshin, Mangu and Bokkos local government area.

“This is a signature project, it’s an inroad into Plateau and other states. I think Quan-pan, Panshin, Bokkos, Mangu and part of Shendam are all beneficiaries of these very important projects,” he said.
He added that accessibility had been expanded and commuters from the East would not necessarily go through the pains of passing through Jos, the state capital but cut through Lankang to Bauchi and Kano.

According to him, the road when completed will boost revenue generation and facilitate easy transportation of farm produce from one place to another in the state.

He maintained that most of the projects were initiated in 2017 by the immediate past administration of Simon Lalong but the present administration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang is poised to complete them as a demonstration of good governance and continuity in government.

In their separate remarks, the chairman of Shendam, Hon. Kemi Nshe, Christopher Manship of Quan-pan and Emmanuel Mwolpun of Mangu all commended Governor Mutfwang for ensuring the completion of all abandoned projects in the state.
