Again, Abia State governor Alex Otti has warned civil servants and appointees against corrupt practices, saying his administration has zero tolerance for social vices.
Otti spoke against such attitudes at a one-day Easter Manna celebration programme organised by the state chapter of Fellowship of Christian Workers International in Umuahia, the capital.
Represented by his special assistant on Religious Matters, Apostle K. C. Wiper, he maintained that the administration is committed to sincerity and transparency in overseeing the state’s affairs.
He commended the pioneer and former coordinator of the chapter, the Very Rev Ernest Onyeukwu and his executive committee for using the platform to pray and intercede for the state.
At the event, the head of service, Benson Ojeikere, charged the civil servants to reciprocate the governor’s good deeds by being focused and dedicated to their duties and responsibilities.
Represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Industry and SMEs, the Rev Okey Ihemanma, he urged them to shun a nonchalant attitude to work, absenteeism, corruption, and disregard for civil service norms, among other vices.
Pastor Gracious Nwoke delivered a sermon entitled „Swallow-up in victory“ at the programme, which featured prayers for the governor, other leaders, the state, and the country at large.
In an address, the new coordinator, Ijeoma Dim, said the fellowship, which began in 2017 across the country, was designed to intercede for peace, security, and economic development in the country.
