political offices in the country.

Chairman and convener of the movement, Professor K’tso Nghargbu, who said this in an interview with newsmen, said,  the ongoing conversation around its agitation for a fairer and more equitable distribution of political opportunities for the zone was a healthy development.

Nghargbu said contrary to a media report, the movement had held three separate meetings and not a joint meeting, to drive home its observed imbalance in the governance equation of Nigeria at the level of the presidency and called for a deeper look into the imbalance with a view to foster inclusivity.

According to him, the  group’s leadership had first met with the former National Security Adviser to former president Olusegun Obasanjo, General Aliyu Gusau, at his residence, after which it proceeded to the palace of the  Ona of Abaji to meet with the royal father and later had an interface with Senator John Danboyi.

He called on all well-meaning people of North Central extraction to key into this fact-based intellectual discourse with a view to ensuring a sense of balance while deepening democracy in the country by ensuring that the zone which had paid its dues towards keeping the country as one indivisible entity is not shortchanged in the political equation of the country.

Nghargbu said those who view the expression of these fact-based valid and legitimate concerns as being confrontational are only self-serving, stressing that intimidating the zone politically will no longer work for her political oppressors.

LEADERSHIP reports that the coalition had in a communique issued recently, said if the All Progressives Congress (APC), chooses to give President Bola Tinubu the right of first refusal to fly the party’s ticket in 2027, then it must ensure his running mate emerges from the North Central while other political parties must feature presidential candidates from the zone.
