A cement-laden truck lost its brakes while descending Kugbo Hill near the Karu Bridge in Abuja on Friday, resulting in a crash that reportedly claimed many lives.

Eyewitnesses said the truck collided with other vehicles, leading to chaos as emergency responders rushed to assist the victims.

Our correspondent gathered that the impact was devastating, leaving many vehicles mangled and occupants trapped.

The driver of the ill-fated truck reportedly fled the scene after sensing a potential mob attack due to a previous fatal incident at the same location.

Sympathisers and members of the Federal Road Safety Corps converged for rescue.

A few weeks ago, a similar accident occurred on the same Karu Bridge.

In that incident, a Dangote trailer powered by CNG lost its brakes and crashed into many vehicles, resulting in several fatalities.
