Police Rescue 12 Kidnap Victims, Recover N10.3m Cash

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have rescued twelve (12) victims of kidnapping in major operations across the country.

These operations led to the arrest of three suspected terrorists, recovery of N10 million cash, arms and ammunition, among others.

Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that in Imo State, operatives of the Force sustained their operational momentum against criminal elements threatening public safety.

According to him, “On April 17, 2025, at approximately 1:02am, police operatives in synergy with local vigilante groups acted on credible intelligence and stormed a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout on Cameron Street, Ubahu, in Okigwe LGA.

“On sighting the operatives, the suspected terrorists opened fire, resulting in a gun battle during which three suspects identified as Onyekaba Ikenna Innocent, male, 21; Ugwu Ikenna, 31, male; and Ofor Kasarachi, male, 37 years were arrested.”

The police said items recovered from the scene include 1 AK-47 rifle, 2 pump-action guns, 18 live cartridges, mobile devices, laptops, and ₦10.3 million in cash suspected to be proceeds of kidnapping for ransom

In another development in Edo State, following the news of the abduction of ten (10) students who were on their way to Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State for the annual GYC Africa conference on the 16th of April 2025, police operatives of the command immediately trailed and engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun duel.

The police said one of the kidnappers was neutralised in the process, and the ten (10) victims rescued unhurt.

Similarly, on the 18th of April 2025 at about 21:15pm, the Command also successfully rescued two other kidnap victims who were kidnapped on April 14, 2025, at their residence in Oluoke community of the state.
