Following the persistent power outage in Kebbi State, particularly in Birnin Kebbi metropolis, caused by the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO), Governor Nasir Idris has constituted a committee to investigate and address the issue.
He made this known to journalists shortly after he attended the Kebbi Elders Consultative Forum’s first inaugural meeting at Na’amo Theatre of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi.
The governor lamented that he gives N150 million to KAEDCO every month and personally gives another N50 million to the same KAEDCO, but the people of Birnin Kebbi metropolis complain of poor supply of power every day.
Additionally, the governor said the government has purchased 75 transformers and other essential accessories based on KAEDCO’s recommendations, yet no results have been obtained.
He noted that these problems are not from the government but from KAEDCO.
“That’s why I set up this committee under the chairmanship of my deputy to investigate fully the remote causes of all these problems with a view to solving the problems amicably,” Idris said.
