The Sokoto State government has officially flagged off the Student Bus Services Programme across Sokoto, the state capital.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Ahmad Ladan Ala who flagged off the scheme, said it was targeted at easing the transportation challenges for secondary school students, who will now enjoy subsidised rides at just ₦100.
According to Ala, the programme will cover seven designated pickup points at Tashar Illela, Remand Home, Gagi Roundabout, Kofar Taramniya Roundabout, Kofar Atiku, Hubbare Roundabout and Dandima Roundabout.
He added that the initiative is part of the progressive agenda under the 9-Point Smart Agenda of Governor Ahmad Aliyu, and reflects the administration’s commitment to improving student welfare.
The commissioner added that all drivers assigned to the programme have undergone proper training and instructed to strictly adhere to safety rules and traffic regulations.
He expressed the dedication of the ministry to further support development of the educational sector and creating a conducive learning environment for all students in the state.
