A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Hacey, has canvassed improved access to sexual health and awareness for young people in Ekiti State.

The non-governmental organisation also said it has partnered with Civil Society Organisations and government agencies and recorded tremendous success in empowering and building capacity among youths.

The Hacey team leader, Isaiah Adedayo, spoke when he led a coalition of Joint advocacy alliance members on a courtesy visit to the state’s Ministry of Health and other government establishments.

Adedayo noted that Ekiti State has recorded tremendous success in sensitisation amongst youths on health-related issues, said the organisation has worked for the past 18 months in all five states.

The group, which called for partnership in its quest to ensure youths are sensitised and exposed to the advantages of health centres to address concerns relating to SRHR, said feedback from the various fields will help form recommendations to policymakers in assisting the organisation.

He said,” We are targeting ages 10 to 24 years, and the goal is to ensure that youths have access to information about their sexual health and the services of the clinics so it can be utilised appropriately.

“We have been doing this for 18 months in Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti states, and I can confidently tell you we have recorded success, especially Ekiti state has done so well”.
